The FundSERV platform does not allow an advisor to invest in guaranteed interest funds (GIF) or in the daily interest fund+ (DIF+) using their FundSERV code.
Previously, advisors therefore had to get authorization from their managing general agents (MGAs) to be able to use their life codes so that they could invest in these investment options that were more suitable for their clients.
Since Feburary 14, advisors can now invest in guaranteed interest funds (GIF) and in the daily interest fund+ (DIF+) on behalf of their clients by using their life code without any approval required from their MGA.
FundSERV advisors can open contracts in EVO, but deposits in GIF or DIF+ cannot be requested in EVO tools. In such cases, a deposit form (F51-153A-1) can be sent to the Individual Savings and Retirement Administration Team.
This lightening of the rules will undoubtedly lead to gains in time and efficiency.
